Memorial Day marked the first day of "summer" and also the last day of my birthday celebration. I was truly blessed to have such a wonderful weekend.


Today was quite the dreary day, lots of rain and even some hail. The day started out with breakfast with one of my old friends from High School, Vaughn Hixon, his wife Alison and their adorable children Drew and Mason. It was soo good to see them and get one of Vaughn's big bear hugs to help complete my birthday celebration.


Memorial Day would not be Memorial Day without a BBQ. So later that day we headed off to the Reeder's for a BBQ with lots of good fix'ins.


I must say..turning 30 wasn't too bad. The best part was friends and family. What more could a girl ask for! Thank you to everyone that helped to make my birthday a memorable one!

The day after

The day after my birthday the celebration continued. Stu and I had my family over to BBQ and play games. I grew up playing board games, so it seem fitting to play a game with my family. So after dinner and a little guitar hero we set out to play boys against girls in DVD Trivial Pursuit. Needless to say, the boys won. Only because the girls were outnumbered 3-4. Overall, another successful day.

The big 3-0

Today marks the big 3-0. I woke up this morning to 30 long stem roses and Stu making me homemade waffles. What a way to wake up!

For my birthday party, we were invited to an 80's theme party at the Marshalls. Before the party began, one of my birthday gifts from Stu was a pedicure. After the pedicure we went to my birthday party. The party was perfect. Almost every dressed in 80's themed even the little kids. We ate, listened to 80's music, played 80's video games and had an 80's theme trivia. I am ashamed to say I did terrible on the trivia. Day 2

And the partying keeps on going. Tonight Stu and I went out to dinner with his friends that I have come to love as deeply as my own friends. We started out at Red Rock Brewing Company and ended up at Tiffany & Doug's housing playing a game called "Cures". In this game you are given a Challenge to complete. "You are an airline steward, tell everyone there is an emergency" You act this out and upon completion of the challenge you get to hand out a Curse card to another player. The curse could be "every time the bell rings, you must cry like a baby" OR "You must speak with a French Accent". If you get caught not doing your curse 3 times, you are out of the game. This game is full of laughs and concentration. Overall...we had an excellent night

Today starts my birthday celebration. I will be the big 3-0 on Saturday May 24th, but I didn't just want one day to celebrate, I wanted marathon of celebrations.


Today was dinner with friends at California Pizza Kitchen and then off to see "Indiania Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". It was a great way to start my birthday celebration!

Book Signing

Stephanie Meyer the author of the "Twilight" series just came out with her new book "the host". For those of you that have not read it...you should. It is a really good book. I read the 619 pages in 4 days. I could not put the book down.

I have never been to a book signing before today. Leah, Liz, Liz's mom Sheila and myself went to Highland High School for Stephanie Meyer's book signing of "the host". If you have never been to a book signing before..let me tell you how it works.

1-Must have a ticket to enter....check

2-Must be willing to wait for hours to have Stephanie sign your book...check

3-Must scream like an adolescent boy when you Stephanie comes out, and by just as shy as one when you meet her...check

4-Must treasure the one book that is autographed with your name in it forever...check

The book signing was really neat. The only downer was that with so many people and so many books to sign, Stephanie only spoke for about 20 min answering pre asked questions that could have been found on her website. I was hoping she would read some from the book..to hear her read her own words..but what do you do. Overall we really had a great time.

Race for the Cure

This is the 4th year Liz and I have done Race for the Cure. It is the 2nd year for Stu, Leah and Cannon and Karly (Stu's sister) joined us for her 1st year.
This race in Salt Lake City is a big one. Roughly 10,000+ people turn out to walk or run this 5k (3 miles).
I do not personally know of anyone that has had breast cancer so I was not running for 'in memory or celebration of'. This year as I was running I looked at the back of each person I passed to see who they were running for. A best friend, a sister, a mother. And to my delight most of these names were "in celebration of" meaning they beat breast cancer.
I told Stu today that I wanted to make this a yearly tradition and do this with our kids each year. He grumbled at me because he was still tired :)

I won the lottery!!

Well not really the lottery with lots of money, but the St. George Marathon lottery.

Liz Royall and I decided to run a marathon...again. It has been 4 years since we ran our last one (which was the St. George marathon) and we decided to go for it again. We must be crazy!! Training for a marathon is a lot of work. It is like having a part time job, but we are committed to getting a better time this go around. Last time we came in at 4 hours and 57 min. We have till October 4th to get our butts in gear to run 26.2 miles. I know...we are crazy!

30 Somthing

This is the year that my best friend Krisite and I turn 30. Thankfully she is about a month older than me so she will always be older :) This year for Kristie's 30 birthday she didn't want to celebrate. I told her 30 is on important year and you need to have a party. She said no to a big party but yes to a small group of friends getting together.

Kristie turned 30 on April 29th. With a small group of friends (10) that met at the Reeder's house, Sean arranged to have a limo come pick us up and take us to Park City to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for dinner. Kristie was so surprised to come out of our house and to be greeted with a limo. She was even more surprised when we arrived at the restaurant because she had heard of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse but had never been.

We all agreed that dinner was fabulous and the company was even better.
