Sweet 16

HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY LEAH!!

Oh to be 16 again!!! My little sister turned the sweet 16 on March 28th. For her birthday all she wanted was a phone, laptop and porsche. Yeah right! She knew she would not be getting any of them, however my parents surprised her and got her a pink phone for her birthday.

To help celebrate her birthday Stu and I took her out for sushi, and I took her to get a makeover at the MAC counter. She got a new shirt and then we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. She had no idea that my whole family was going to be there so Stu and I surprised her with balloons and my family (She thought dinner was just going to be the 3 of us). Over all I think she had a good 16th birthday.

To Grandma's house we go...

This last weekend Stu and I decided to take a visit to Grandma and Grandpa's house...with Blue. This would be his 1st road trip and 1st time to Grandma's and Grandpa's who live in St. George. We left Saturday morning and Blue who loves the car got super excited to take a ride. Surprisingly Blue did really well in the car. We only had to stop once for a potty and get rid of wiggles break and he was ready to push on.

Upon arriving at G & G house, Blue was a little hesitant at first to meet them. He stayed close to mom and dad but by the end of the trip he warmed up to G & G. G & G have a big back yard and we put him back there and he pretty much stayed in the back yard the whole time. Blue was very interested in the birds that visit the back yard. He would just sit and watch them. He was very good and never barked at them to scare them away.

When we got ready to leave on Monday St. Patrick's Day, I think Blue was excited to get to home. He was a good travel buddy who slept most of the way home. I hope our kids will be just like that too.

We have a new baby!!

Got your attention didn't I?? Well Stu and I don't have a new baby, but my best friend Kristie and her husband Sean do so that makes me an aunt again and Stu an uncle.

THE PRINCE HAS ARRIVED

Jacob David Marshall was born on March 12, 2008 at 3:39 PM. He was 2 weeks early, however Krisite is known for going early so they were prepared. Jacob weighted in at 7 lbs and 15 oz. The nurse told Krisite if he hadn't peed right before they weighted him he probably would have weighted 8 lbs. He was 19 1/2 inches long and had quite a bit of hair. He was so alert the whole time we were there, just looking around and probably wondering 'what have I gotten myself into'.
Jacob's sisters McKenna (age 6) and London (almost 2) were both excited to see the new prince. After Jacob got his feet inked for the baby certificate, one of the nurses put Jacob's inked foot on Sean's arm to 'mark him'. It was the cutest thing I have seen!! McKenna asked her dad how he got that foot print on his arm and he told her "Jacob Kon-Foo kicked me when he came out" McKenna replied with amazement "How did he do that??"
Because Jacob was the first grandson on Sean's side, Jacob got Sean's dad's name as his middle name-David. On Kristie's side, Jacob is the 4 grandson, however March 12th was Kristie's dad's birthday, so both grandpa's are a significant part of Jacob's life.
Kristie looked absolutely beautiful, having that mother glow, and will have her hands full with 3 kids. Thank goodness McKenna will be a big help with Jacob like she was with London

Doggie Parks

There really are doggie parks out there. Parks made especially for dogs. The park is gated, full of grass and they have big concrete pipes for the dogs to run through, and yes...a fire hydrant. Stu and I didn't know they existed until our trainer mentioned to us to take Blue to one. We did just that yesterday. Sunday brought warm weather and clear sky's and perfect time to take Blue to meet other dogs.

Let me set the setting. Blue in the back seat with the window down getting excited as we pull up into the parking stall. As Stu gets his leash ready to go on his collar, it takes about everything Stu has to get Blue to sit. As we walk towards the gate Blue is pulling Stu to the point where Stu is almost in a run. As we approach the park I observe the amount of dogs running around in the gated community. There are about 100 dogs and when I say 100 I don't mean there were a lot of dogs..I mean there were over 100 dogs running EVERYWHERE. Blue was a little overwhelmed by the number of dogs coming up to sniff is private area and to be honest, I would be nervous too. He struggled with the amount of dogs and people at first so we just kept Blue close to us and went to our own little patch of grass and had him sit and watch for a bit. As Blue is sitting by Stu and watching the dogs, some dogs have come over to say hi to Blue (hi= smelling Blue) and one dog named Spike comes over to say "hi" and proceeds to lift his leg and pee on our dog. Is that how dogs say Hi to the new kid on the block? After about 20 min Blue got use to the dogs running around and seemed to enjoy running after his tennis ball Stu was throwing at him. We had quite a few other dogs bring the ball back thinking the ball was there's and gross..it was covered in other dogs foamy spit.

Overall through we had a good day at the doggie park.
