Christmas

Christmas this year was so busy. Stu had to work the night before and got done with a 12 hour shift at 7:30AM. We hurried to my parents house to open gifts (we did it in 1 1/2 hours that included breakfast) and then I took him to his parents to sleep for a few hours. We did Christmas at the Reeder's later that night and then we still had to go home and do our Christmas. WHEW. It was a long day, but joyful.

The Holy War

The big rival game came on a cold clear Saturday. After layering up and making sure I had my hand warmers and some lunch from Moochies, Stu and I headed to the game. Man was security tight, it took 15 min just to get inside the gates. Once we arrived we grabbed our seats and started watching the game. The Utes didn't score any points in the first half but they made up for it in the 2nd half. They evened out the playing field 17-16 and the Utes made that awesome field goal block with 4 seconds left to win the game! How did that happen?? It was amazing to see the stadium explode with excitement!

I told him I could not protect him if he was wearing the color "blue", but overall he said the Ute fans were not too mean to him. That made me happy since the last home game I attended I watched the Ute fans treat the BYU fan terribly.

Thanksgiving

This year Thanksgiving was spent with my family. We kept the yearly tradition of seeing a movie on Thanksgiving. This year was "Harry Potter". I must admit I have only seen the movie, never read the book. And I never saw the last movie, so I was totally lost. But I still had a good time with the family. The only one missing was my sister who spent the day wiht her boyfriends family.

Birthday Boy

Stu's 28th Birthday was a big party. I was able to stay home from work to spend the morning with Stu before we hit up a new burger place and a couple massage. Later that night both family's came over for some pizza and cupcakes before we headed to Fast Kart for some much needed 'speed'. Overall Stu had a great day. Next year he told me he just wants a "Relaxing" day. :)

Haunted Village

Saturday night after the Undead Race, Stu and I joined forces with Liz and her boyfriend Mike and hit up Texas Roadhouse before taking our chances with the ghouls at The Haunted Village.
If you have not had a chance to visit "Haunted Brigham" you should go. It is super fun, just wear a coat!

Race of the "undead"

Saturday marked the 1st ever "Night of the Running Dead" up at This is the Place Heritage Park. It was a 5K and my friend Michelle said she was interested in running it and so I jumped at the chance. Upon registering for the race you could choose if you wanted to be a "Survivor" or "Infected". The survivors got a 1 minute head start before the infected AKA zombies started. We of course were zombies. The race was quite fun. We ran around the village and had fun zombies to watch along the way.

Life Flight

Stu recently got a promotion at work. He is now on the balloon team. Balloon pumps are placed in people that are critically ill and would be flown to the hospital to allow for care wouldn't not be available at their current facility.
If Stu gets called in and Life Flight has to be flown to the location, Stu gets to go along with Life Flight to monitor the balloon that is inside the patient.
Today Stu had an yearly training on how to: carry his equipment to Life Flight, how Life Flight works and his role on a Life Flight Balloon call.

Marathon

I have come to find out that this is my year for supporting! I was hoping I would be pregnant by the time the St. George Marathon came around this year so I didn't sign up for it back in April. Coleman (my little brother) and Liz (my running buddy) did, so I was first in line to make sure I would be there to support them both.
The marathon was Saturday October 2nd this year. It was HOT waiting for our runners to come in. This is my first time ever supporting a race. It was hard to see the runners come in and not be a part of it. It was not that I wanted to run (I hate running) but I know the high it gives you and the sense of accomplishment and I wanted to be part of that. But my time was on the side lines this year and I embraced it.
I was not sure of Coleman's race time since this was his first race. He wanted to shoot for 4 hours so we were down at the finish line 3h and 30m into the marathon. Luckily Cole uses his iPhone for his music and he text me saying he had some problems with the reaction to the BenGay they put on his legs for muscle soreness, so he was way behind on his time.
We kept looking for Matt (Liz's brother) because I knew Cole and Liz would be close behind. Matt showed up and it was not till another 30 min later Cole came down the way. I saw him coming and ran up to him and gave him a hug and told him how proud I was of him and he was so close to the end and I sent him off. Liz showed up 5 min later and I did the same. Ran up to her to give him a hug and tell her how proud I was of her and sent her to the end.
Cole was sick at the end and had to seek medical attention. Liz was dehydrated and not doing well, but after 30 min of relaxing they both started to feel better.
I was so proud of them both and all they accomplished! I guess being a supporter is not as bad as I thought it was!

Homecoming at the U

Homecoming Game 2010 at the University of Utah. The game was at 6PM on Saturday and believe it or not it was still quite warm at 6.
We met up with Brandon and Michelle Harden at Macaroni Grill before the game to celebrate Michelle's birthday. It was so much fun to chat and catch up!
The Utes won 56-3. We ended up leaving in the 3rd quarter since the girl behind us was drunk off her butt and decided to puke everywhere. It was GROSS!

Yellowstone

Before Stu's little brother leaves on his mission in November, we got together to have one last Reeder Family Vacation. We headed up to Island Park in Idaho to a log cabin for some R&R. Stu and I were only able to stay for a few days since he had to work, but we had a good time while we were there. Games, movies, fresh air, Yellowstone, good food and laughter.

It was cold the day we went to Yellowstone. The cold wind mixing with the hot pools created a lot of steam. I got this picture of Stu as he walked through a blanket of steam.

Trevor kept saying how nice it would be to dive into one of these hot pools. If you are interested- this one is only 200 degrees, pretty tame compared to some others.

The cabin we stayed at was just a short walk away from a lake. I thought this picture was great since it captured the water, the changing leavings and the mountains in the background.

1st Game of the Season

It has begun. The University of Utah Football season that is. Thursday night was there first game against Pittsburgh.
The game was later (6:30) so that nice, we only had to sit in the sun for a little while. The crappy thing was that for the first time in 4 years the open seat next to me was actually occupied. Someone bought just one ticket for the season. BOO on less space. We always used that space to add more elbow room. In fact the guy that occupied this space kept getting elbowed by me because I was not use to having someone next to me. He stayed close the fence after that happened a few times.
The Utes were doing good and had a good lead..till they lost it. Pitt scored a field goal in the last 20 seconds of the game pushing it into overtime. Pitt lead off and threw and interception which allowed us to kick a field goal and win in OT. What a game!

John Mayer

I have the best friends in the world. Liz's got tickets to the John Mayer concert from her brother in law and her boyfriend didn't want to go so guess who did get to go???...ME. The seats were awesome (13 rows from the stage). The concert was at USANA and Stu ended up buying a lawn seat and sat with some co-workers.

I am fan of John Mayer, I have not been to one of his concerts, but Mike and Rae (Liz's sister and brother in law) are John Mayer groupies. After seeing his concert I totally see why.
I found out that John Mayer plays a different set list for every concert he does. So if he sings a song in Texas that song is not sung again during his tour. If you think about it, that keeps himself and his band from not getting bored with the same songs..over and over again. But if he played your favorite song in Chicago, then you are SOL. My favorite song that John sings is called "Slow Dancing In a Burning Room". This song is total baby making music! I was so excited to have him sing it and believe it or not...he did!! He played that song! I was in HEAVEN!! Stu texted me from the lawn saying "he wished he could be with me"..hint hint :)

Overall the concert was awesome!! The company was FABULOUS and John was amazing!


The open band for John Mayer was Owl City. I liked them. Stu didn't like them as much because he said they were too 'techno'. That is what I liked about them.

Colorado & Baseball

I had the privilege of going with Liz and her parents to Denver to see their Atlanta Braves play aganist the Colorado Rockies.
We left bright and early Monday morning and hit up an evening game. Tuesday brought a trip to Colorado Springs (my birth place) and another night game and Wednesday brought a day game (it was soo hot) and traveling home. The car ride sucked, the game was fun, the company was great and time away from work was priceless.

Lion King

It was a year wait-- but WELL worth the wait. Stu and I got to see the Lion King tonight and it was AMAZING. If you got tickets you are in for a treat. If you didn't get tickets, you are missing out and should really try to get some.
The play was based on the Disney Lion King, so the story was nothing new. But the costumes were BREATH TAKING beautiful. It was visually stunning to look at.
My favorite song in the play is "He Lives in You". This is not in the Disney movie, so it was a surprise. I thought it was sung so beautifully. This is where (grown-up) Simba sees his father Mufasia in the stars. Rafiki is singing to Simba. Take a second to listen-it is so beautiful.

Shakespearean Festival

Stu and I decided to expand our love of the arts and to go down to Cedar City and see some plays at the Shakespearean Festival. We packed up the car, loaded up the dog and headed down to Cedar. We went to dinner with my dear friend Hillary and Rich for dinner before our first play. We checked into a 'pet friendly' hotel, but since it was Blue's first time in a hotel we were nervous about leaving him during the play. Luckily he was a good boy and didn't tear anything up at the hotel while we were away.
Our first play Friday night was Much Ado About Nothing, Stu and I had never seen this and we LOVED it. It was soo funny and the actor's that played the main characters MADE the whole play. I never thought I would enjoy a Shakespeare play as much as I did.
Our second play was a Saturday matinee, The 39 Steps a play based on Alfred Hitchcock movies. The play was very funny and full of character. When you only have 4 actors for the whole play the diversity they displayed with character, voice and clothing changes-was just brilliant.
Overall we had a great time. We topped off the adventure with a trip to St. George to visit the grandparents Saturday night.
