Homecoming

Although I have not been a homecoming dance since High School, I enjoy going to the homecoming football games. In fact..I have been to 2 this year. Woods Cross's and now the University of Utah.
Coming off our lose to Oregon we played L'Ville and won, 30-14! Go Utes. Kyrie was not able to join us this round but Josh's friend Ryan was and we had a great time.

Stu and Josh (check out the dude with the mohawk). I can't decide if this is for real or if he 'glues' it on. Maybe one day I will ask him

A swinging good time

One of my dear friends celebrated her 30th birthday by having a party. As she put it "Lets celebrate the roaring 20's before the Great Depression Hits (the 30's)". For her party she asked people to come dressed up in the 20's best and be prepared to party.
My cute husband is not a fan of dressing up, but for Michelle he said he would do it. We found this killer costume store and got a great deal on our costumes.

Stu as a mob boss and me as a flapper girl. Stu's outfit was complete with suspenders. He was sooo cute.

Front view of my dress. The dress was itchy and the feathers were itchy, but overall I loved having an excuse to dress up.
Me and Brandon (Michelle's husband). I have known Brandon for 20+ years. Michelle caught one great guy.

Sarah and Michelle (the birthday girl). Look at how cute she is!

The Theatre

Tonight my honey, my brother and my mom and I went to the local theatre to see the production of "The Scarlet Pimpernel". I had seen this play about 3 years ago and wanted to see it again. I wanted to take my brother who wanted to see it 3 years ago but could not (tickets were sold out) and I wanted Stu and my mom to see it. I loved the play. I read the book for the 1st time about a month ago and even though it is the cardinal rule, (never read the book before the movie or before the play because you will be sadly disappointed)-I was not. The play didn't follow the book exactly (there is no singing in the book) but it was pretty close.
Overall we had a good time and once again I was blown away by the calibre of talent we have in our community.

LotaJa

LotaJa is short for Logan Utah to Jackson Hole Wyoming. Stu entered this bike race back in April and this last weekend was B day. Bike day. The race is 206 miles crossing 3 states (Utah, Idaho and Wyoming) and it must be completed before dark.
Each participant had to have their leg stamped to show they picked up their packet. I thought it was cute (yes cute) and please note my husband's nice calf muscle. GRRRRR
Stu's start time was set at 5:45AM, this meant that Stu and I had to wake up at 3AM to pick up Liz and drive to Logan by 5:30AM. It was soo dark and sooo cold. Here is a picture of the team getting ready to hit up the starting line.

Stu after he just biked 30 miles to the first feed station. He was feeling pretty good, I was doing my best to keep him warm since he was still so cold.

Because we could not always follow the bikers and had to take alternate routes this picture shows one of our alternate routes. It was dusty and right before we hit this dirt road, a farmer had his sprinklers on watering his crops, and the sprinklers hit the road and the cars passing under it so the sprinklers got the cars wet right before they road on this dirt road. Can you say MUD.

Sarah and Liz waiting at the feed station for the pack to come in. It was so warm and we were so tired, but we found things to keep up busy-like watching Arrested Development.

Stu, Sarah and Liz right after Stu came into the feed station. At this point Stu has already biked 80 miles and he still looks good.

One person that did not not weather too well was my father in law. He was so dehydrated that my mother in law had to start an IV on him.

Stu at the top of King's Mountain. This hill was a steady 4 mile climb and hurt to drive it let alone ride up it. Stu was going strong-this is him right after climbing to the top.

The finish line..see how dark it is. It is getting close to shutting down. Any rider still out on the road after dark will be pulled off and will get a DNF on their time. DNF=Did Not Finish

Stu, Sarah and Liz at the finish line. Stu was not able to complete the full 206 miles. He completed 150 miles (which is a win in my book). The team drove into Jackson Hole and then rode the last 10 miles to the finish line. It was so neat to see him at the finish line.

Because we didn't check into hotel till almost midnight they didn't have any room for us. We of course were so tired and cranky that Stu complained and we got a 3 bedroom condo instead. Here is Stu in our living room. This place was so nice. I wish we could have enjoyed it more.

The view from our condo porch, the Grand Tetons. It was so beautiful!

Sunday ride home. Liz and Sarah having some fun.

My cute honey. This was Stu most of the way home. He deserved it...he worked hard today!

Stu I am so proud of you and all you did on LotaJa. Thank you Liz for being my support as much as Stu's. Love you both!

Football Season has started

Utah opened up their season by playing in their "Brother Rivalry" against Utah State. Stu and I were sooo excited that our friends Josh and Kyrie got season tickets with us this year. Football games are always fun in larger numbers. Before the game we went out to eat at a sandwich shop called Moochies and I ran into my friend Sonia and her husband Shawn. It was good to see them both.
Utah won 35-17. It was a fun first game. The big lead gave me a chance to finish reading my book (yes I read books at football games)

I am an artist

I love to do arty stuff- but other than scrapbooking, I have not really done too much that is considered "Arty" (Is even a word?) My friend Tiffany discovered that our local scrapbooking place was doing a wood block pattern portraying one of my favorite musicals "WICKED". Of course I could not resist. We got signed up and our class was last night. Keep in mind that the only thing that was done for me was the wood was cut and we had the ribbons, everything else I had to make.
The wood had to be painted, the paper had to be cut out (even then I messed up) the glitter had to be glittered and the hot glue gun was heated up.

Here are the blocks and the paper cut out waiting to be glued

Here I am cutting out my letters and eating my dinner. As it turned out, this letter was the one I messed up on. Go figure.

Here is my final product. You can't see very well but the dot on the "I" is a glittered witch and the "D" has Glinda's wand.
